Michigan automatically expunges several types of convictions, but it is possible to clear more kinds of convictions through a court petition process. We work with partner organizations across the state to help people access free or low-cost help for a court petition expungement.
We believe democracy is a participation sport. SJM organizes several policy events including legislative updates throughout the state, opportunities for our supporters to visit with legislators, narrative events featuring the lived experiences of formerly incarcerated people and more.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT NO ONGOING ATTORNEY-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP SHALL BE ESTABLISHED BASED ON YOUR ATTENDANCE OR CONSULTATION WITH ANY OF THE VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS OR ORGANIZATIONS AT THESE EVENTS. IF YOUR ELIGIBILITY IS CONFIRMED AT THE FAIR, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FILING YOUR EXPUNGEMENT APPLICATION AND REPRESENTING YOURSELF AT ANY COURT HEARING IN THE FUTURE.
